What it actually does
Engine oil lubricates moving parts, helps control engine temperature and keeps internal components clean. Over time it breaks down and collects contaminants, which is when the engine starts to wear faster and run hotter. A proper service replaces both the oil and the filter, so the engine stays protected. It’s one of the simplest, best value things you can do for your car.
Signs You're Due
- Service reminder light is on
- Engine feels noisy or rough
- Oil looks very dark or dirty on the dipstick
- You’ve done lots of short trips or stop start driving
- It’s been a long time since your last service
Even if your car seems fine, old oil can still cause wear. If you’re due, book in now, or contact us if you’re not sure.
What’s Involved
We confirm the correct oil grade and specification for your vehicle, drain the old oil, replace the filter, refill with the right spec, then check the oil level and inspect for leaks. Not rushed, not guesswork. If your car needs more than this, a full service or a logbook service, we’ll tell you clearly rather than talk you into anything. For general upkeep between visits, see our car maintenance tips page.
How Long It Takes
Most oil and filter changes take around 30 to 90 minutes. Some vehicles take longer, especially if the filter is hard to access or you’ve asked for a full inspection at the same time. We’ll confirm timing when you book so you can plan your day around it.
Why It Matters
Clean oil helps your engine last longer. When it’s old or low, wear increases, performance drops, and in the worst cases you’re looking at real engine damage. Keeping up with it is the easiest way to protect your car and keep it reliable.
Worth Pairing With
Depending on your vehicle and mileage, it’s worth considering at the same visit: a logbook service if you’re keeping up with scheduled servicing, an air filter check, a brake inspection if you’ve noticed noise or vibration, a computer scan if a warning light is on, or tyres and wheel balancing if you’re chasing a smoother drive. If you just want the oil done, no worries, we’ll keep it simple.
Petrol and Diesel
We service both. Whether it’s a small hatch, a European car, a family SUV or a work ute, we’ll use the correct spec for your engine.
Quick FAQ
How often should I change my oil?
It depends on the vehicle and oil type. Many cars sit around every 10,000 to 15,000km or every 6 to 12 months. Short trips, towing or heavy driving mean you’ll likely need it more often.
What if I don’t drive much?
Oil still degrades over time even without the kilometres. If you’re doing less than 10,000km a year, an annual oil change is still worth keeping up.
What happens if I leave it too long?
Old oil loses its ability to lubricate properly, thickens, traps contaminants and puts more strain on the engine. Catching it early is always cheaper than dealing with the damage later.
Do you change the filter too?
Yes, we recommend changing the filter along with the oil to keep everything clean and properly protected.
Can you use the right oil for European cars?
Yes. Many European vehicles need specific oil standards, and we’ll confirm the correct one for your make and model.
What if my oil light is on?
If it’s the oil pressure light, stop driving and contact us straight away. If it’s just a service reminder, you can book in for an oil change or service whenever suits.
